The Los Angeles Dodgers made the biggest splash by signing two-way superstar Shohei Ohtani to a record-breaking $700 million deal for 10 years. Ohtani, who won the AL MVP in 2022, is a rare talent who can pitch and hit at an elite level.

The San Francisco Giants added Korean outfielder Jung Hoo Lee on a six-year, $113 million deal with an opt-out after four years. Lee has a career batting average of .340 in the KBO and won the MVP in 2022.

The Cincinnati Reds signed veteran infielder Jeimer Candelario on a three-year, $45 million deal. Candelario is a switch-hitter who had a career-high .291 batting average and .857 OPS in 2023.

The Baltimore Orioles signed closer Craig Kimbrel to a one-year, $13 million deal. Kimbrel is a seven-time All-Star who had 34 saves and a 2.37 ERA in 2023.

The Houston Astros signed catcher Victor Caratini to a two-year, $12 million deal. Caratini is a solid defensive catcher who hit .267 with 10 home runs and 48 RBIs in 2023.

Here is the master of MLB free agency himself, Jeff Passan, with a breakdown of what’s happening so far. He notes in his tweet that Kiley McDaniel is projecting another $2 billion will be spent in the off season!
